Independence Day of Timor Leste and Republic Day of Cameroon - 20 May 2011
In cultural news, today is the Republic Day of Cameroon, observing the adoption of its constitution in 1972. There are more than 200 ethnic groups in this beautiful West African nation between Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria. It is also home to one of the largest and most protected rainforests on the continent, the Dja Faunal Reserve. A United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site, it is habitat for over 1200 plant and 420 bird species, as well as a wide variety of primates. Today is also the Independence Day of Timor Leste, honoring its autonomy achieved in 2002. Timor Leste is a scenic mountainous country in southeastern Asia. Its Nino Konis Santana National Park contains more than 55000 hectares of the "Coral Triangle," a marine region that has the greatest biodiversity of coral and reef fish on the globe. We wish the residents of Cameroon a splendid Republic Day and the citizens of Timor Leste a memorable Independence Day.

Grey Voyagers
Grey Voyagers
There are more people in the world today over sixty years old than there has ever been before. They are living in their "Third Age" and despite their rapidly increasing numbers, there are few older "role models" to whom they may look for inspiration... Until now. Grey Voyagers is a unique six-part travel and adventure series, featuring the remarkable stories of six ordinary "older people" making extraordinary journeys to far flung parts of the globe. Their adventures takes us to the frozen Antarctic wilderness, across the broad expanse of the United States, motorcycling through the spectacular vistas of Nepal, sailing among the lush tropical islands of the Caribbean, into the ancient landscapes of Northern Iran and the devastation of East Timor. These "Grey Voyagers" have inspirational stories that challenge traditional "stay at home" stereotypes of ageing, and celebrate the amazing possibilities all of us can look forward to in our "Third Age".

Hegemony Or Survival Ch. 3 - The New Era of Enlightenment part 3 - East Timor & Kosovo #2
Noam Chomsky - Hegemony Or Survival Read by Brian Jones with an introduction read by the author For more than half a century the United States has been pursuing a grand imperial strategy with the aim of staking out the globe. Our leaders have shown themselves willing-as in the Cuban Missile Crisis-to follow the dream of dominance no matter how high the risks. Now the Bush administration (at the time this book was published, now it is the Obama administration) is intensifying this process, driving us toward the final frontiers of imperial control, toward a choice between the prerogatives of power and a livable earth. Noam Chomsky investigates how we came to this moment, what kind of peril we find ourselves in, and why our rulers are willing to jeopardize the future of our species. Lucid, rigorous, and thoroughly documented, Hegemony or Survival is Chomsky's most urgent and sweeping work in years. Certain to spark widespread debate, it is a definitive statement from one of the world's most influential political thinkers.

The first production model was delivered to Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina on 14 July 1993. The first squadron of C-17s, the 17th Airlift Squadron, was declared operationally ready on 17 January 1995.[30] The C-17 has broken 22 records for oversized payloads.[31] The C-17 was awarded US aviation's most prestigious award, the Collier Trophy in 1994.[32] The Air Force originally programmed to buy a total of 120 C-17s, with the last one being scheduled for delivery in November 2004. The fiscal 2000 budget funded another 14 aircraft, primarily for Air Mobility Command (AMC) support of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Worldwide Exposure
Worldwide Exposure
Worldwide Exposure www.mesorc.com/mesothelioma/worldwide-exposure/ The problems of asbestos and asbestos-related illnesses such as the risk of mesothelioma are not unique to the United States. Around the world, many countries have struggled with the dilemma of how to deal with asbestos related issues. Others, unfortunately, have chosen to ignore or deny the existence of the risk of mesothelioma. Australia Australia has one of the highest per capita rates of mesothelioma in the world, with 7000 citizens having died from Mesothelioma since 1945, a number set to increase exponentially over the next ten years. Brazil Brazil is the world's fourth largest producer of asbestos and exports 35% of its annual production (around 200000 tons) to more than 25 countries around the globe. Canada While Canada's use of asbestos is low due to strict governmental regulations, the country remains the largest exporter of asbestos in the world, exporting 98% of its asbestos related production. East Timor Following an occupation by Indonesia from the mid-1970s through the 1990s, East Timor was left with a new problem: deadly asbestos dust leftover from the destruction. In 2000, the World Bank funded a project to clean up the asbestos. However, workers who were hired at a rate of $3 per day received no warning of the asbestos related dangers, nor any protective clothing or equipment. England Until about 40 years ago, the town of Armley in Leeds was home to the asbestos manufacturer JW Roberts ...

Workshop The 20th Century: Revolutions and Nationalism Revisited - Lima Peru
The 20th century was a century of revolutions. It was a time in which important historic social and political changes happened, such as the Russian and Chinese Revolution. In addition to these "violent" revolutions we witnessed the collapse of the Berlin Wall and of communism in Eastern Europe, the end of apartheid in South Africa, the downfall of Marcos' regime in the Philippines and the liberation of East Timor. Moreover, many social and technological "revolutions" took place such as the emancipation of women and the development of the internet. These and many other events reconfigured the geopolitical structure of the globe

Are Oil interests more important than the lives and liberties of all Americans? Of all people, regardless of their country? Most importantly, is what appears as negligence actually calculated efforts? Scenes include images of Dr. John and the protest in New Orleans, Venice Louisiana neighbors, and an interview. Helping Iraq? Really?
Helping Iraq? Really?
Almost all of the 19 hi-jackers from 9/11 came from Saudi Arabia...the same SA we send billions in arms to. Do you ever ask why we're building an Iraqi Americana there -- instead of bombing Riyadh, the place where 15 of the hi-jackers received their passports? We "care" about Iraq but aren't willing to give condoms to AIDS ridden Africa & seem unaware of the genocide killing millions more in Darfur. Neo-Cons and corporations run this country for their international masters. The fear based culture here in America now casts it's evil shadow abroad...killing thousands and exporting military might, suffering & financial hardships around the globe. From Chile to East Timor and all points in between, our country does more evil than the rest of the world combined...and it's sickening! They prey on the "collective unconsciousness" of almost 300 million godless souls -- the soul of America is a baren wasteland.

Huge International Child Porn Site Franchise Ring Shut Down. Sept 2010. Pg 1/3. An international child porn ring with ties to Arizona has been shut down. For the first time, law enforcement officials are sharing the latest, inside details in a case involving 30000 customers, 132 countries and more than 230 websites. Law enforcement officials from around the globe are calling it the most important child pornography bust in the history of the Internet. Matthew Allen is Special Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigation and Immigration Customs Enforcement in Arizona. He oversees any leads identified in Arizona by the international child pornography bust, otherwise known as Project Flicker. "If the average American were to see it they would be completely outraged at the kind of victimization that goes on," Allen said. "[It] resulted in more than 5000 leads in the United States involving individuals who have subscribed or downloaded child pornography from websites." Allen said the focus of Project Flicker wasn't just to identify who was at the center of the child pornography ring. "The focus of Flicker was kind of backward, looking at the people who subscribed to the child pornography websites," he said. Among those identified as customers were 10000 Americans. Individuals who subscribed were given access to images and videos of sexually exploited boys and girls, some possibly as young as 3-years old. "Their ages spanned from infancy all the way to adulthood," Allen ...
